A long weekend is upon us and summer is in full swing!
Before you head to the BBQs & beaches, double-check that you’ve packed your self-care essentials, & remember skincare is self-care, so nurture the skin you’re in & check out these summer skincare tips!
SPF 30 and above works to protect your skin from the sun’s ultraviolet rays that damage skin cells, which can cause sunburn, aging & skin cancer.
~Drink lots of water
It’s important to up your water game during the summer. Our bodies are trying to cool down by sweating more, which causes dehydration. Drinking lots of water and consuming hydrating foods can not only prevent heat illness but keep your skin looking plump and hydrated.
~Cleanse & Tone
Cleansers should be gentle so not to strip skin of its natural moisture&double cleanse in the evening to break down dirt, make up&sunscreen. Toners help cleanse, tighten & hydrate pores. Use face mists throughout the day, like rose water or green tea.
It’s tempting to skip this step as our sweat glands are producing more oil, but even if your skin feels oily, it’s necessary, as it helps lock in moisture and creates a protective barrier against the elements. Opt for a lightweight moisturizer or gel.
Because we are producing more oil in our skin, we need to exfoliate to remove build-up and unclog our pores. Exfoliating helps smooth skin tone, prevents acne & boosts circulation & lymphatic drainage.
Look for these ingredients in your sunscreen, cleansers & moisturizers: Zinc Oxide, Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid & Glycolic Acid & Alpha Hydroxy Acids.
Grab some Aloe! Aloe vera is such a great ally in the summer (or anytime!) It contains allicin & antioxidants that penetrate deeply into the skin & replenish lost moisture & improves collagen. It also has cooling properties that soothe sunburn, irritation, cuts & scrapes. So go grab you some!
Your Sunglasses! They help protect your eyes & surrounding skin from the sun & help prevent crow’s feet.🌞
SMILE! You will look healthier, feel better & it’s good for your cheeks!
Every body is a beach body, so hold your head high & be proud of the skin you are in! 💛
The word and feeling of delay is pretty familiar these days. The Pandemic has forced us to slow down and even stop our activity. Nevertheless, I want to apologize for the delay in posting and launching my BeYOUthentic herbal products.
Pandemic aside. I have had other issues that have made me slow down to process. If you follow my other blog Labeled Disabled, then you know I struggle with mental health. I have been working towards launching my own business for over a year with Vocational Rehab, if you want to know more about that journey, you can read my latest post there, Commitment&Consistency.
Meanwhile, I do have two social media pages up on Facebook and Instagram that I have managed to post weekly on. I launched my first product, Nourish Herbal Cream at a recent local fundraiser and received great feedback! I am very much looking forward to sharing it with you!
I hope you are all hanging in here during these challenging times.
Be patient. Be kind.
Thanks so much for being here💚
